This bibliography was compiled by the author of this website (herself a mother of 2 trilingual children) and expanded at an info meeting of the Karussell Association in 2007. The aim was to adapt the list of recommended reading for multlingual children.

In most cases, we have undertaken to list only the author's name if...

• he or she is well known and,
• wrote primarliy children's literature (those who also wrote for adults are noted)
• their works may be recommended collectively.

In places, we included the names of the heroes or series. Some parents had heard of the characters but did not know the authors' names.

Also included were individual books that the children particularly liked, even if the author was largely unknown to the parents.

Age recommendations have been deliberately omitted, with only books for toddlers being listed separately. Some children are already reading longer books by age five, while others of their peers may not be ready to listen to a fairy tale. Every dedicated parent knows the reading level of their own child better than the compilers of recommended reading lists. We are constantly testing and rediscovering the abilities of our children.

NB: The order of the list is by no means intended to reflect a personall preference for these books. If a particular book has been omitted from this list, suggestions and corrections are always welcome.
